Q: Who are some of your favorite female characters in comics?

A: They include Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Invisible Woman, Sabra, Supergirl, Shadowcat, Jean Grey, Psylocke, Storm, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, Photon, Monet St. Croix, Penance, Wonder Girl, Giselle Villard, Power Girl, Meggan, Mockingbird, Warbird, Silverclaw, Catwoman, Spoiler, the Black Cat, Elektra, Looker, Firebird, Rogue, Batgirl, Oracle, Dazzler, and Jessie Quick, the latter who's mother, Liberty Belle, was also a native of Philadelphia like me.

Q: Who are some of your least favorite characters in comics?

A: To be honest, it's not like I really have least favorite ones; only the way they're written, I suppose. For example, I feel that the way Gambit was written during the 1990s was dreadful and that better writing and characterization, not to mention a better background and personality, would help tremendously in making him more of a palatable character. Unfortunately, the writers at Marvel for the X-Men made no serious attempt to fix whatever damage was done to the character, and that's a shame. But, let us be clear, there are no bad characters, only bad writers, and only if one can find really good writers will it be possible to result in really good characters!

Q: Do you have any favorite supporting characters who aren't superheros as well?

A: Sure! Those would include characters like Jonathan & Martha Kent, Perry White, Lois Lane, Sue Dibny, Mary Jane Watson, Jean Loring, Sapphire Stagg-Mason, Virginia "Pepper" Potts, Harold "Happy" Hogan, Linda Park West, Joan Williams Garrick, Jimmy Olsen, Robbie and Randy Robertson, Iris West Allen, Glory Grant, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, Carol Ferris, Edwin Jarvis, Alfred Pennyworth, Vicky Vale, Lana Lang, and Pete Ross. Supporting characters like them are also a very important part of the world of comics.
